What Can You Do with an Art Degree?

Many students entering four-year colleges and universities are drawn to the glamour of  earning a degree in some field related to art.  Some people decide to major in art history, or art education, while others choose more specific areas of concentration like 3D design, calligraphy, or marbling.  These sound pretty obscure to most people.  Any concerned parent of a student who might be interested in an art degree would probably protest such an idea.  After all, what in the world can a person do with a four year degree in art, of all things?
